It was an unprecedented success for the hotel. Effective market analysis, customer relations management and aggressive marketing had something to do with it-but Robbins’ mission at La Posada extended beyond the hotel’s walls. With a combination of guts and vision, Robbins worked to rebrand the entire town of Laredo, positioning it as an art and culture mecca in South Texas-with La Posada as the focal point.

Under his leadership, the hotel’s public spaces became a living museum showcasing the works of South Texas artists such as George O. Jackson, Julia Watson and Cristina Zorilla Spears. And La Posada hosted countless fairs, festivals and events that drew guests from all over the country.

Robbins also rebranded La Posada’s on-location restaurant as the Zaragoza Grill, an upscale gourmet bistro featuring the cutting-edge Modern Latin cuisine of Executive Chef Beto Gutierrez. The restaurant quickly became a regional favorite, attracting a loyal crowd of local customers and putting La Posada on the culinary map in South Texas.

Before his tenure at La Posada, Robbins led the repositioning of the historic Emily Morgan Hotel in San Antonio, Texas, as a top-ranked luxury boutique hotel in a highly competitive market-establishing it as the jewel of the downtown Historic District.
